Good Times

Tomorrow is my DBIL (dear brother-in-law) Mark's birthday. He wanted to celebrate tonight by getting together some friends and family and have some drinks and appetizers. We all gathered at Houlihan's and had a very nice, relaxing time. It was good to laugh and trade jokes and quips. The only thing missing was dad. He would have had a wonderful time. But, mom came and shared good news. He remembers around the time he had the stroke. I think that is good recall and I am hopeful of other things as well.

We tried all kinds of good food tonight and my favorite would have to be the spinach dip and lavash. It had pepper jack cheese melted on the top and tasted fabulous with the dip. The food, coupled with a nice smooth merlot, and great conversation made the evening very relaxing. John and Lori were there, along with several other couples from church. There is something about friends (and family.... yes, they can be counted as friends too!) getting together and 'hanging out.' No stress, no worries, just laughs and good food.

I have truly enjoyed a Saturday with no life or death calls or trips to the ER. I thanked God for a morning to sleep in, some quiet time on the computer, a nice pot of hot coffee, and warm fresh cinnamon rolls. The only thing that would have made this morning better would have been all of the above while sitting out on my deck. The weather was just a little too chilly, but warmer mornings are coming. I can't wait! Soon you'll find me out on my deck, sitting in my chair listening to the birds, and drinking my coffee..... some much needed solitude in my 'tree house!'

Dearest Queen,

Thank you for being my adopted Internet Mother. I hope the Unsinkable doesn't mind. I know I'm not too good at sharing MY mom!

Spending easy mornings on the deck is one of my favorite things to do with my mom. Hopefully you can start enjoying yours soon!

I enjoy your blog and I hope your father recovers soon. He is in my prayers.

Thanks Sarah! I know The Unsinkable won't mind sharing... she is after all "unsinkable" so I think she'll 'rise' to the occasion. :)
Thanks for the prayers, I greatly appreciate it.

Aw, I don't mind. I have to share her with Brandon anyways. And Dave, who has threatened to take over my favorite child status - :)

You know... Dave works really hard to be number one! I do have to give him kudos for that. :0)
He is still my favorite SILaw.
