It's Been Awhile

Yes, it has been awhile since my last post. Things have been rather busy here in TX and a lot has been going on.

I started a new job last week and the learning curve has been huge. I am enjoying the challenge and the women I work with are very nice. Which helps. I work for a financial planning company and am learning lingo that has always sounded like Greek to me. :) It's amazing how your likes and dislikes change over time.

We have been doing a series on the Ten Commandments in bible class on Sunday morning. Jason (our teacher) has really been tossing out some challenging ideas and it has really stretched my thinking. We are still on the first couple of commandments that deal with our relationship with God and I am looking forward each Sunday to the discussion that flows from the group. It is a large class (about 75-100) and there are a lot of ideas and opinions. I leave feeling challenged and I spend most of my time thinking about what was said. Tim and I can't wait to get into the car and talk about the class and the sermon over lunch. I like hearing what he has to say about the scriptures and we both discuss our thoughts, our weaknesses and what we have learned or how we have been convicted about something.

Tim and I were both raised listening to the same sermons and we had the same bible classes so our foundations are similar. It makes for interesting conversation because even after being apart for nigh on 30 years, we are remarkably alike in how we interpret scripture. Even though my early years were extremely conservative in nature, I think I may fall on the slightly liberal end of things now - can you believe that? (wink) And I find that he is the same way.

On a different subject: I speak to Kristen and Brandon on almost a daily basis. I can hear the little voices of my grandchildren on the other end of the phone and it is a wonderful sound indeed. I know that when I get off the phone . . . those little voices are still with their parents. hehehe.

Being a grandmother has to be one of the best things in the world. You pop in and then you pop out. You play, you spoil, you love, and then you leave. They hug you, kiss you, laugh with you, and then dismiss you. :) It is a joy to see them and know that there is a little bit of you and a little bit of your child in each grandchild. God sees us in exactly the same way, and with a love that surpasses my own.

Well, I think I have rambled enough for this evening. Hunt for Red October is on Spike tv and who can resist Sean Connery?

I love reading about your "new married life" and how things are going with you and Tim!
James grew up "in the church" as his dad has been a minister longer than he has been alive and I really started in the church at Lindberg when I was 13 so it is always interesting listening to both of our "takes" on sermons, ideas, etc after services and things;especially since we are back at Lindberg. The good thing is that we also see most things the same yet learn so much from each other!

Thanks for sharing this post.
