The First Leg of the Journey

We had so much fun this past week and I am amazed at how much driving we did while we were gone. Our first stop was Knoxville, Tennessee where my son and his family currently live. Tim and I spent time holding babies, shopping, and generally spoiling them as much as possible.

Eva is beautiful. She was born on Christmas Day and she will turn 4 in 25 days. She has long, thick brown hair and looks so much like Brandon. She talks a mile a minute and is very smart. I was so surprised that she came right up to me and snuggled on my lap like she knew exactly who I was... children are amazing that way.

Tim was totally taken with Torin. They shopped for toys and he watched Torin decide which toy he wanted and laughed at the way he eyed each one and then put the lesser one back. Torin was very decisive and determined. He kept a package of cars while his sister Eva filled the cart with all the things she could find.... mermaids, dolls, shoes, clothes, socks, notebook paper, crayons and on and on and on. He loved his Cars crocks and could have cared less about the clothes. It reminded me of Ralphie and his brother in A Christmas Story.

Kyra is 18 months old and she didn't feel well at all. It was hard to get a feel for her because she was running fever and slept most of the time. The day we were due to leave, she looked better and smiled for us. She went right to Tim and just gave me the shoulder, which needless to say, Tim was enchanted. (wink) He called himself The Baby Whisperer and to say he rubbed it in would be an understatement.
