I am thankful for grandkids… they can make me laugh and make my heart crumble all at the same time. They are coming to our house for the weekend while Unsinkable and her husband are painting and decorating the rooms for them and the new baby. Little David (aka Bubba) has been having “nana” withdrawals and was crying tonight that he “missed his nana.” Unsinkable called me up and said that he was going to end up living with Nana for the rest of his life if he didn’t stop crying and get to sleep. (I loved it) So, I asked her to put him on the phone and I heard this little voice say “I miss you, Nana.” (do you hear a breaking sound? – yeah that would be me.) There was a big sniff following by a deep sigh. He’s such a little doll.
I know why God gave grandkids grandparents – it’s to save them from their parents and to give them someone who loves them beyond all reason. The other great thing about being a grandparent is that you can love ‘em up and then send ‘em home. (wink)
