So, what do I want to do with my “free” day? I wanted to sleep in late, play a few computer games, and do some shopping and maybe go read at the library – I don’t know. I do know that I am meeting Tim for lunch and we always have a good time, no matter what we do. (He’s great!) I also want to do some baking for the weekend because Tim’s son, Aaron and his wife, Tamara, will be staying with us. (I really do enjoy them and can’t wait to visit.) I have just a little housecleaning to do but – dude! That job is going to happen on Saturday – not on my “free” day. I have to have some boundaries. (wink)
I know that this is a normal day for most people but for people of faith it is a day (and a weekend) of reflection. We reflect on Jesus, the life he led while on earth as well as his death and the reason for it. Many people remember his death and resurrection each Sunday when they participate in the Lord’s Supper (Communion) and we should do that. This particular weekend is special to other denominations and their focus on it gives me additional time to do the same. It opens the door to conversations that might not normally take place because God uses each and every opportunity to draw people closer to him. It’s comforting to know that God doesn’t want anyone to be lost and will always be reaching out to the lost, the hurting, the sinful, and the weak. It’s also humbling to know that Jesus died for me (and for you) so that I (we) might be saved from our sins. And we all sin, don’t we? None of us are perfect – just forgiven. Praise God for that. Amen.
