Whew! Have I been busy today! I had a fabulous conversation with my son who lives in TN and got to talk to each grandbaby

about stickers, presents, princesses, and Cars. They are just full of words and ideas. Little Eva wanted her hair cut short so she asked her mommy to cut it. After the cut she went into the bathroom to view the “new do” and proclaimed, “Mommy! That is EXACTLY what I wanted! It’s perfect.” And then off she went to play. The little toot is only 4 ½ - can you believe that?
We went to see the new Disney 3-D

movie “UP” and LOVED it. It has to be one of my favorites. . . and be prepared to laugh and cry. It’s touching.
After the movie we went to Sam’s and picked up some household stuff, returned it to the house, went to look at a few model homes for some decorating ideas, and then off to Home Depot. I gotta say, Tim and I had a great time shopping for stuff. He bought some wood and hardware to make some shelves for the garage, I got a composter, and then we decided we needed a good Texas steak to top off the good day. Man – oh – man that steak was delicious and the day is still not over. Awesome.

I am excited about the shelves (Tim’s taking care of them) and I am going to focus on the composter. I have always wanted to try it and then supplement my plants and flower beds with good “black gold.” I remember my Pap composting and I thought it was so weird to throw our leftovers out in the yard. Hahahaa. Now here I am trying the same thing.
I have also been looking into ‘no dig gardening.’ You can google it for more instructions but basically it is no dig gardening. (wink) You decide where you want your flower bed, you lay down 4 – 5 layers of newspaper, water it til damp, then add yard waste, water, more newspaper, dampen, more yard waste. Let it bake for 2 months, stirring occasionally. Then, voila! You have a raised

bed with dead grass underneath several inches of great compost. Sow seeds, plant flowers, whatever your heart desires. This sounds so much better than renting a sod skimmer, digging in the hot Texas sun and then filling it back up with compost etc. I can wait 2 months for a good “no dig” garden
