Well dear friends, the angels are rejoicing because we have a new brother! Dave Smith was baptized tonight and we all rejoiced. We have been praying for him and for his family for a long time. I hated to leave dad but I didn't want to miss this special moment. Dad patted my hand and said, "Go tell Dave I am proud of him."
Well, Cheryl and I literally flew down the interstate to get there on time. Thank the good Lord for text messaging! I know he's been thanked for many things but probably not for text messaging. Mark was able to let us know what was happening so that we could speed faster down the highway!! I just prayed that I wouldn't get a ticket for a baptism.... surely God would forgive my speeding since it was for a good cause?? (wink)
Have you ever been so moved that you just couldn't stop the tears? I know the men are shaking their heads "no" and the women are shaking their heads "yes." I got to church tonight and the singing was overwhelming. I just kept thinking about all of the people there and how important they all were in our lives and how much the kingdom of God will be a thousand times more special! I just bawled.... not like slobbering, snotty cow bawling, but a dignified, watery cry as befitting a queen!!! LOL. Seriously, I think it was a combination of the two, except I would like to leave out that "cow" part.
I am watching the Oscars and trying to decide if Al Gore looks really fat or if it could be that the camera adds a few pounds. Oh well.... as long as he invented the internet and is now responsible for making a movie about global warming, I think I should cut the "big" guy some slack. (hummmm, I thought it was punny, didn't you?)
Good night.

David's baptism was awesome! Kim has been such an inspiration to me, and now David is a new brother in Christ.
Wouldn't it be great if we had 30-50 stories like this a year?
