Dancing & Dreaming

I bought a new cd by John Mayer. I have listened to this cd non-stop now for almost a week. I have listened to it in the car on the way to work, I have listened to it at work, on the way home and I have listened to it at night while surfing and playing cards.

The words in the songs are soulful. They are about lost loves, the end of relationships, belief, changes, and starting over. I know that when I look back on this time.... my life's soundtrack will have songs on it from John Mayer.

The title to the song Slow Dancing in a Burning Room was a terrific word picture for me. I like to watch Dancing with the Stars (occasionally) and I could just picture two lovers dancing, so fixed on each other that they didn't even notice the room was burning. Have you ever been in love like that?

The other song, Dreaming with a Broken Heart, is my favorite. I love this song. He has managed to capture exactly what it feels like to miss someone and to mourn the loss of a relationship. For someone so young, he has managed to articulate feelings that most of us only know how to feel... but could never express in a million years. Masterful.

This cd has many other good tracks. I know I will stop listening to it.....eventually, but for now, I am going to go to bed, listen to the music, and dream of roses. Good night, all.
