See the Art in Me

I am home...again. I tried to go to work, I even made it to my desk. I checked some voicemail and answered a few emails. When I had trouble catching my breath and couldn't stand up without grabbing the wall...I decided to go back to the doctor and put myself back in bed. So, armed with some stronger drugs and the knowledge that I don't have pnumonia, I am home and on the couch. Resting. Breathing. Bored.

So, what does a bored royal do? She burns cds to her hard-drive. I am going through my cd collection and burning some of my absolute favs to my hard-drive. I don't usually do this, but I am finding that I am hesitant to try things when I'm not confident of what to do and how to do it. (as it deals with technology) I decided to step out and try it. I have several already on there, but as I am ripping and listening, I am discovering some very dear friends all over again.

I absolutely love Jars of Clay's song, 'Love Song for a Savior.' As I was listening to that classic song, another song began to play- "Art in Me." I think I like that one almost as much. The chorus of the song says, "sculpting every move, you compose a symphony. You plead to everyone, see the art in me." I think so many of us out in world cry for people to 'see the art in me.' We long for significance. We long for others to gaze at us and see us for the fine work of art we are. God designed each one of us... we are all masterpieces. We are priceless works of art. God is The Designer. The Craftsman. The Artist. The Sculpter. The Carver. He is the most ignored artist of all time. We are awed by the works of Da'Vinci, Monet, Michelangleo, Picasso, Rembrandt, but are we awed by a homeless man on the street? A elder man as he helps his elderly wife cross the street? A newborn baby? A tall oak tree standing alone on a hill? A dark, thunderous raincloud? A flash of lightening? The shell of a crab? The bark on the tree? The smoothness of a rock? The waves on the shore? God designed all of it. He knew exactly how he wanted it all to look, feel, smell, taste, and sound. It is flawless. It is priceless. It is absolutely beyond anything mortal man can design.

Do we see the art in God? Do we see the art in each other? Do we see the art in ourselves? You and I are priceless works of art, we should begin to see and treat each other accordingly.

May I see the art in my fellowman. May I appreciate the qualities that The Creator has given each person and try to see the art in each one, even the ones I don't like. God, you created all, you love all, and you want me to do the same regardless of how I think and feel. Forgive me when I forget, and when I ignore the priceless works of art you have created and daily place in front of me. Each person has value. Each person has a place. Each person has meaning and a soul. Help me to remember. Forgive me when I forget, and help me to lovingly and gently remind others when they forget too. Amen.

I knew a guy named Art once. From Michigan. I'm impressed you can spell all those names.

Even in sickness you have such a way with words. I'm sorry to hear that you are still under the weather. Take it from someone who is still trying to get over it, "Stay home and REST!!!"
In response to your current observations I too agree with your thoughts. This is what I mean when I talk about how much I enjoy my drive to work everyday because I get to see so much of God's creation. I swear I'm able to observe it all without running anybody off the road :) I also agree that we all need to find ways to acknowlege God's art in others. Thanks for sharing! Hope you get to feeling better soon but try to enjoy the rest.

Kim...
Don't you love driving and looking? I love it! I am just glad you are traveling north and I am traveling south. At least we won't run into each other while we are staring out the windows! :) Thanks for commenting...it is nice to know that others are out there looking for God in the small stuff! You are such an encouragement to me and your walk with God is an inspiration! It's wonderful that He put us together...I just feel sorry for all the others that have to listen to us cough, sneeze, and talk with no voice! :) I'm sorry I missed you tonight.
