Good morning, all! Life is good, isn't it!
Last night was my booktalk at Starbucks! I love going there and meeting, drinking coffee, and talking with friends and meeting new people. Last week we were packed, I mean packed. It was exciting to see so many new faces and the group was so large that we took up half of the back section of the store. Good for Starbucks business and good for us... a win/win combination. The neatest part is that I think we have finally reached equal twenty-year olds to over 35 year-olds. It is a great mix of male/female and young/young-at-hearts. I think we probably had around 16 people there and the discussion was excellent. It has been challenging, funny, tense, thoughtful... and a host of other adjectives. :) Last night was no exception but we did have several people that were out of town, so our numbers were down but the conversation was great.
We were discussing churches that we have been to and the way we feel when we praise. We talked about passion for God, fellowship with each other in small group settings and then in corporate worship. Questions like "why is church boring" and "how do you have an attitude of praise" and "is Sunday just about praise or is it about fellowship and encouragement of each other too" were discussed.
My co-worker, Ellyn, has joined us for the past four meetings and it has been encouraging to me to see her talk with the people in the group. She loves to read and has enjoyed the book and the ideas that people have been sharing. We talk about it at work late in the afternoon when we are looking for a quick mental break. (I think I need more quick mental breaks, but then the work would never get done because I would be chatting all day long!)
I have decided that I am in desperate need of a break. I am taking the weekend of June 30 off. I am going to make arrangements w/my sisters to visit dad and I am going to park my body in this apartment. It is a treat to mysef. Sometimes a body needs to take a breather... to rest, do fun things. I will take things as they come. I am going with the flow. If I feel like a walk, I'll take it. If I feel like a nap, I'll take one. If I feel like talking on the phone, I'll talk. If I feel like cleaning my closet.... uh, uh, well... I'll think about cleaning it and see if it passes. You get my drift.
I have been rambling this morning. Steve Martin is a rambling man for those of you old enough to remember. He can really play the banjo... banjos... I have discovered that I like listening to SOME types of bluegrass music, but I have to be in the mood. Mood rings. Diamond rings. Marriage. Companionship. Friendship. Friends. Old friends. Judy. Well, that's enough free word association for me. Have a good day today and I'll chat with you all again later.
