Starbucks Night

Last night was my Starbucks group night. I love going because there is so much conversation, laughter, and great people. We had two new people last night and that was so much fun. We discussed chapter five in our book, Velvet Elvis, and it dealt with our life and heaven and hell. It seems like "nowadays" we don't talk much about heaven and hell. I'm not sure why, but we don't, which made the discussion last night so lively. We had lots of comments, ideas, and questions. Dave made several observations which gave us a chance to see how he viewed his new "church" friends. He commented on how his life seemed fine, that is until he began to learn about God and what God's plan was for man (including him). He went on to explain how bad his life had really been but he didn't know how to change it. Once he started to develope a relationship with other Christians and saw that they really loved God and each other (including him) he began to open up to the possibility that maybe Christians weren't so bad after all. He began to hang out with them, ask questions, and he realized that these people loved him for who he was.... not what he had, not for what he could do, nor for the perfect life he lived. They wanted nothing from him. They just wanted to BE with him. His explanation is so much better than my trying to write it down here. You just have to hear it straight from his mouth.

Anyway, I love going on Monday and last night, while I was bone tired, was no exception. I loved it. We had another visitor, Kyle, who is ministering to the people in China. He shared his experiences there with the Chinese people and how it against government law to teach about God. He and his wife are doing a great work in China and they are meeting people and finding out that they hunger for knowledge of Jesus and why people would believe in him. The little church has grown and become a strong family. You can see how much Kyle loves them and excited he is to be able to help the other people find the answers they are searching for.
God bless him.

Our conversation swirled from God, to Chinese foods, to "what is the weirdest food you have ever eaten," to if you were in the desert.... you can drink your own urine to keep yourself hydrated. Yeah, urine. Can you believe that? We just sat and laughed over that one for a long time. Sure, we were grossed out, but we were all laughing too hard to care. Kyle said he couldn't wait to blog about the conversation and how much his Chinese family would love to read that we go off on conversation tangents in the US too.. :) Boy! We certainly do.

I hope that you have a wonderful day. Thanks for dropping by and I pray that we will be able to meet again. God Bless.
