Community

Last night I had an amazing study with a fellow christian young adult. We met at church and then went to a classroom for our discussion. She is a seeker. . . seeking to know God, seeking to do what's right, seeking to change her life, seeking for christian companionship. She is full of life, longing, and persistence. I was humbled to be sitting with her and to be able to listen to her describe her recent experiences, her thoughts, and her feelings. I love listening to people share their lives with me. It's their desires, goals, and aspirations that inspire me. It builds my faith!

People, or community, is one of the five ways mentioned in our Starbucks book that you can experience, or build, your faith. I totally agree. By spending time with this young woman, I am growing myself. We talked, we cried, we prayed, we encouraged each other and I walked away from the evening very thankful that God gave us that time to connect as sisters in Christ. Sharing our lives, our failings, our desires, and talking about these with each other, gave us a sense of commonality, bonding, a "Band of Brothers" feeling. God knew we needed this strengthening to keep us connected and accountable.

I would encourage you to find someone to talk to this week. Share some of your life with them and ask them about their life. It's surprising how this small experience can make the day shine a little brighter.

God is good. All the time. Amen.
