Adjustments

Spike TV is showing Return of the Jedi and we are right at the point where they see the Ewoks.
Aaron and his wife have gone to bed. They are getting up at 4:45 am to get up and get out the door by 5:15. Both of them work in Houston and have to travel over an hour and a half to get to work- provided the traffic is kind. Gas is hard to come by. Warnings issued on radio and television state that you shouldn't allow your gas tank gauge to get below a quarter of a tank. Most of the gas stations are running off of generators and supplies are slow in coming. Many stations have lines that are incredibly long. Aaron and Tamara fill up here and we are all praying that our supplies can hold up under the huge demand. Since they are familiar with the city here they can use the less familiar stations and get in and out quickly...otherwise they will find lines here in Bryan too. Thankfully Tim and I both work about 5 minutes away from home so we can get a tank of gas to last quite awhile.

I went to the store today for some food supplies and the shelves there are really bare. I managed to get everything I needed for the four of us for the week and we should be fine. When I went to check out, I asked the cashier if they were having trouble receiving their normal supply trucks. He said yes, some of them were delayed, some were fine, but he said that people were coming from all over to buy supplies for either evacuees or to take down to Houston and the Galveston area. So I will be interested to see if things are any better by next week.

Many people in the area have family, friends, and others staying in their homes. I am very thankful that we live close enough to offer help to Aaron and Tamara. It has been great having them here and I have enjoyed their company. Aaron swept the floor after dinner and helped take out the trash , Tamara wiped off the table and put away the leftovers, I filled the dishwasher and Tim cleaned up the grill. It really has been great to have the extra hands to help get the work done.

In spite of the hurricane, in spite of the long lines, in spite of the inconvenience, we make sure to pray a prayer of Thanksgiving. We have food, shelter, and family. And God is good....all the time.
