Well, I hate going to the store. I don’t know why, but I just do. I don’t think I have ever really enjoyed it except for the time that Sarah and I went shopping for our family vacation at the lake. We made our list out on the deck overlooking the water while we drank about two pots of coffee. I think it was my sister and the deck that made the chore enjoyable.
What isn’t enjoyable is going after work when I’m tired. I don’t want to waste my weekend time doing it so I make the time after work. I think the other thing that makes this chore my least favorite is going without a plan. If you go without a menu or a list of ingredients….then you are up a creek without a paddle. You’re like a pack of fries without ketchup; a glazed doughnut with no milk. (I think you get what I’m saying)
Anyway, because I have been out of town for awhile, I went to the store after work and I went without a list or a plan. (ugh!) I found myself just floating down isle after isle meandering through all of the food options. I knew better but I needed milk for Tim’s breakfast and coffee for my addiction (wink) so there I was doing the very thing I hated. I know the old adage, "Failing to plan is planning to fail," but occasionally I drop by the store without a list. Not good-I know... but what can I say?
So, I am going to make sure and have a list for next week along with a menu. It helps us to eat better, save some money, and Tim loves to have me cook for him. How can you say no to someone who thinks everything you fix is "delicious?"
