Hurricane Update:
Well, it's Friday night at 9:31. I got to go home from work today at 11:00am and Tim came home during the late afternoon. Before he got home, I was able to bring in the chairs from outside, along with the bird feeders, garbage container, mats, pots, and other miscellaneous things that could be possible projectiles during a hurricane.
I have been preparing for no electricity, no water, and gathering up the necessary items to deal with the ifferent situations. I don't know what to expect because it is not something you can predict with 100% accuracy. However; since we have advanced notice, we can take some precautions. I am armed with candles, matches, flashlights with good batteries, cell phones are charging, bathtub is filled with water (for toilets and misc use), bottled water, car is in the garage, radio is battery-operated for emergency news, and the cars are gased up just in case. We have done the laundry and run the dishwasher because if the electricity does go out - we have been warned that it could be a very long time before it comes back on. My family went through an ice storm in Indiana back in the 90's and we were out of power for almost a week. But that was in the winter and this is in 94 degree heat!!! No air conditioning.... y'all, that is gonna kill me.
Anyway, the hurricane should hit land sometime in the very early morning hours... and then head up our direction. We live in Brazos County about an 75 minutes from Houston. The stations around here are telling those near Houston/Galveston area that there is a "Certain Death" warning out. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?? I have NEVER seen that before.
We are watching the WeatherChannel and the local stations too. Tim and I have been praying for all the people in the Houston/Galveston and for those of us in the surrounding areas.
I'll keep you posted - provided we have electricity. :)
