Bird's Eye View

High up in the very top of a tree, sat the bird. The spring wind blew the tree branches, but the bird remained undisturbed. It was watching a scene unfold below. There on the ground stood a chapel made of glass. Through the glass stood a man and a woman holding hands and surrounded by a crowd of people. Soft piano music could be heard above the sound of the gentle breeze.

The bird watched.

Inside the glass chapel, the man and the woman were smiling and holding hands. The crowd of family and friends were listening to words describing the couple's love for each other and for their Maker. Tears were running down the faces of some, smiles were on the faces of others. Then man and the woman walked towards two bright flames. Gently the two individual flames danced through the air until they jointly lit the wick of a single candle, quickly becoming one strong, bright flame.

The bird ruffled it's feathers but continued to watch through the glass.

The man spoke to the woman words of love and fidelity. The woman spoke to man words that matched his own. They gazed into each other's eyes. They exchanged rings of gold. Their lips touched. The chapel rang with applause as the couple walked through the loving crowd who were smiling at the couple with joy in their eyes.

Slowly the bird raised it's head to the sky gazing up at it's Maker. The Maker smiled at the bird as if to say He too had witnessed the moment, the couple, the family and friends, the flame. Then the bird smiled. Lovingly, The Maker smiled back.

Then bird flew away.
