Good Day!

Oh royal readers! The day has finally arrived! I'm sure you are all a-twirl wondering what has arrived. Well, fret no longer. The Queen is out on her deck! Yes, the first Deck Day is here and I have been waiting for this for some time.

Here... let me give you the backstory.

I live in an older apartment complex tucked back into the trees/woods. When I was shopping around for a place to live, the trees were the big draw for me. After I hiked up the three floors to see the apartment, I seriously doubted this was it. I mean I could see me barfing up a lung after hiking groceries up three flights of stairs. And really.... who wants to do that?
But after I walked inside, stepped out onto the deck, I was hooked. I loved it! It was me.

The apartment is an end unit, no neighbors to the left, only one deck neighbor to the far right, and woods all the way around. I have been known to sit in my chair in my jammies cause there is just no one around. It's great! Anyway, I digress. The deck runs the width of the apartment and the railing runs along the perimeter. I have tons of tall trees and it's just like sitting in a tree house. They sway in the breeze and they house many animals. I have deer, owls, birds, squirrels, eagles, rabbits, coons, woodpeckers, and other critters that I cannot see. My owl, Hooter, can be heard in the evening and sometimes early in the morning. He is so cool.

Right now though, I am sitting out on the deck, in my chair, wrapped in a quilt, smelling the wonderful aroma of hot coffee with cream, and sharing my wonderful moment with you. The only one displaced is Miss B. She wants to be out badly, but I am not ready to share. I do love to put out bird food just to drive her bonkers. She ticks at them like a rattlesnake. I'm sure she is a mighty huntress but a fall off the deck would be the end of my royal companion.

I have plans for the deck besides just bird food in feeders to annoy the cat. I want to plant some flowers, sweep the winter debris off, add a lounge chair (for napping..... duh!) and maybe a water element. I miss the water, but I think a small fountain might do the trick. (wink)

Anyway, I need to wrap this up. The breeze, the quilt, and the warm coffee have done their job and I feel the need to sit in the Lotus position and chant. Hooter will love the accompaniment.

oooohhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm. (royal translation: I call it "Good Day!")
