I am getting itchy feet. Not like real live itchy feet, but the travelin-blues itchy-kind-of-feet. I miss traveling. I miss getting in the car, packing a lunch, filling the car up with gas, and taking off. We used to do that a lot when the kids were little. My favorite memory is getting into the car when we lived in Michigan and deciding if we were going to go east to Niagra Falls or north to Macinaw Island. Dean opened the sun roof of the Aurora and flipped a coin. The kids called it and we headed to Niagra. We had a ball.
Now that I am single, the desire for travel is still there but part of the fun was going with D~. So, a little while ago I decided to go on a short trip to Atchison and do some shopping. I hopped in the car, filled it up with gas, and jump on the interstate. I had a great time. I enjoyed looking at the farmland, the cows.... (some of them are really huge!) and I loved finding new places to eat and then I sat back and watched the river.
I have decided that it's all in my attitude. I can be sad and mope around or I can jump in where I'm at and have a great time. I have decided that life is too short to waste it on things that cannot be .... and I need to enjoy what God has given me. If I am to enjoy it as a 'happenin' single gal, then so be it. If I am meant to share it with someone... then I know God will provide the right person at the right time.
So, in the meantime.... I am planning my next roadtrip. I think I am going to explore KS. Maybe I'll visit some historical areas or just see what's there. I know that the only cure for itchy feet is to........ itch them. So, until then, I'll catch ya on the flipside.
