Wikipedia defines friendship as “co-operative and supportive behavior between two or more humans.” It goes on to say, “a relationship which involves esteem and effection.” Value found in friendships are often a result of showing sympathy, honesty when it is difficult, truth, understanding and to desire what is best for the other. There is a degree of intimacy that separates acquaintanceship from friendship.
After reading the above definitions, it dawned on me that it is easier to be a friend than to define a friend. They come in all kinds of packages, have all kinds of different interests, but there is a connection and it is very hard to nail down exactly what makes a friend.
Why even try? Shouldn't we just enjoy being friends, enjoy the differences, enjoy the commonalities, and just enjoy being together? Share lives, share pictures, share moments, share sorrows, share good times and bad. Friends nourish the soul and I thank God for all the friends He has placed in my life, both old and new. You all are the best!
