Question for the Day

In my devotional this morning, I came across the following statement: We were NOT created to be consumers. We were created to be contributors.

I thought about that statement on and off for most of the day. What does it mean to be a consumer? I breathe air. I drink water. I buy things. I eat food. I buy food. I use fossil fuel. I ask for help. I take up time. It would seem that a consumer thinks of self and self's needs.

What does it mean to be a contributor? It means that I look for ways to help. I pitch in. I am useful. I add something to the process. It is thinking about others and looking for ways to help.

Do I spend my days in search of ways to consume or do I spend my days in search of ways to contribute? And you, oh royal reader, what say you? Consumer or Contributor? That is the question.

Dear Queen
I've been reading your spot for a while now mostly to read post about your dad and I discovered it's like getting to drop in and visit like old times. Well I guess by my response here I would say I'm a comsumer.
Love you,
Dana
