I just returned from a date with myself. I am really good company, if I do say so myself! And I do. :) I went to the $2 movie and got a small popcorn, so the whole thing was just about the same price as renting a movie. Yippy! I'm a cheap date too. Anyway, I went to see Music & Lyrics with Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant. I really love Hugh Grant and will see just about anything he's in. His dry sense of humor and wit tickle me. This was not his best movie but I did enjoy it and for $2 it was worth it. It was touching and romantic and I walked out smiling. All-in-all it was a good movie.
As I posted earlier, Saturdays are my favorite. I do what I want and I enjoy everything I do. I went to see my dad today and had a wonderful time. On my way there, I discovered I had not had lunch and I was really going to feel bad if I didn't eat something soon. So I stopped by the grocery store near B Spencer's and found a spectacular salad and fruit bar. I grabbed two bowls, loaded them up with salad and fruit, checked out, and went to see dad.
He was waiting in the hallway for some reason and waved at me when I walked in. He looked really good. He had handwritten a note telling my mom where he was going to be in case she came while he was out. Plans were to go into the garden area, so I just wheeled him and my lunch right on out there. We sat in the garden under a shady tree and proceeded to talk and nibble on salad and fruit. It was slow, pleasant, breezy, and altogether wonderful. God has blessed me with some terrific moments with my dad since the stroke and I am thankful for each and every one. We just chatted about anything he felt like talking about, and time just slowly moved on by.
After the visit with my dad, I went to the movie, and now I am doing laundry. Now this may not sound like a big deal to you... small maybe, but to me it is a very big deal. I do not enjoy laundry now. I used to, but not any more. If you currently have a washer and dryer at your house... get on your knees and thank God above for your blessings!!! Do it. RIGHT NOW. ok. Let's continue, shall we?
I currently live in an apartment that does not possess the two said amenities, so any time I want to do my laundry... I have to make an appointment. Not really, but it sure feels like it. I put it off until the last possible moment. In fact ... (confession music begins....) I have been know to go out and buy new underwear and pants just so I don' t have to go do laundry. (Oh the shame of it all!) I don't do that any more, so tonight I am doing my laundry at my sister's house. They are not here this evening and I have received permission to crash their digs and do my duds.
I know I choose to fill my Saturday's with things that I want to do. And you are right, laundry is definately NOT on the list of "The Things the Queen Likes to Do." However, I refuse to have a new book written about me called "The Queen's New Clothes", we all know how the story turned out for the emperor now, don't we. I refuse to show up for church in my birthday suit, especially when it's not even my birthday.
I am on load number two. This is going to be a very, very, long evening.
