Well, I am home. My flight was supposed to take off at 7:50 and land in KC at 9:05.... did it? No. Did it take off at 8:50? No. Did it take off at 9:50? No. It did take off at 10:30 and it arrived in KC at 11:45. I got home after midnight. It was a good flight and the airport at Love Field was a comfortable place to hang out. I talked to some very nice people, read a book, ate some tasty snacks, and just tried to find the contentment God would expect me to find while hanging out in an airport with unexpected delay upon delay. (Very hard, mind you! But I was able to maintain my general unflappable demeanor until the very end. Yeah!) The good news is, that while late, we all arrived in one piece and at the right destination!
My kitties were very glad to see me, as far as cats go. They wanted petted and then fed. ;) Typical. I left my bags in the hallway and fell into bed. But horror of horrors.... I just laid there. I couldn't get to sleep. That almost NEVER happens to me. I am usually out 3 minutes after my head hits the pillow. I just laid there. I couldn't seem to get to sleep. It must have been the excitment of the evening. I mean there is only so much excitement that a body can handle when sitting in an airport for four hours and then in a plane for another hour plus. (Did ya catch the sarcasm?)
Seriously, though, aside from the plane delays... my trip to TX was great. My baby-time was thoroughly enjoyable even through the tears, the diaper changes, the melt-downs (typical two-year old behavior) and the hugs, eskimo-kisses, toys, books, smiles, funny words, hearing "Nana, I wuv you." ahhhhhhhh.... I sure do miss that little Tot. Oh, and the Birthday Boy.... what a snuggler! He just buried his little head into my shoulder, hugged really tight, and then just rested his little head on my shoulder. The really great part was when he sighed really big and then fell right to sleep while I rocked him. It was a perfect "nana" way to spend my last afternoon with him on his birthday.
Earlier in the morning yesterday, we spent a few hours touring the Fort Worth Zoo with the kiddos. It was great! I haven't been there in soo many years. I told the tot that Nana had gone to the Ft. Worth Zoo when she was a little girl. Taylor said, "Silly Nana. You not widdle girl; you big girl. Me is widdle girl." I loved it! :) We saw lions, a white tiger, a gorilla (man he was HUGE) a couple of rhinos, some hippopotimi, some more monkeys and lots of other super cool stuff. I have some great pictures and will post more of them tomorrow.
I have to start trying to motivate myself to get ready for work. I'll let you know if there was any napping and drooling on my desk at work today. :) Kristen and I were talking to the Tot yesterday about taking a nap (not her favorite thing to do....it wasn't mine either) and I mentioned, "Nana is going to take a nap too." Kristen laughed and asked, "How does Nana make it through the work day without napping?" To which I replied, "Nana doesn't get up at 4:30 to change diapers, or 5:30 to get milk. Making it through the day is easy when you don't get up several times during the night!" This whole baby-thing can really wear a nana out. :)
Have a wonderful Tuesday and I'll see you all back here later.

Nana time is soooo great. I am glad that you were able to take advantage of it. I also had nana time with mine, except mine is "Grandma time". Ethan sidled up to me and said, " Grandma Judy, you are my favorite Grandma, and Grandma Carol is second. Don't tell her, okay?" I just about melted.
God bless those little bodies.
Love, Judy
Hearing you talk about your Nana time makes me miss my parents so much! Dad was at least able to be here for the party and I got him singing Happy Birthday right next to the camera! (I think he was only here for 24 hours!) It is so tough being away from your family! I am so glad for you and especially for Kristen and her kids that you were able to be there for the "Big Party"!
