Stongholds

Webster's dictionary describes a stonghold as, "Stronghold: hold, stronghold, fastness; asylum; (refuge); keep, donjon, dungeon, fortress, citadel, capitol, castle; tower of strength, tower of strength; fort,"

Picture in your mind a fort or a tower, tall and strong. There is a window at the top and in the window you can see a figure. Squinting, you see that the person is familiar to you... suddenly, your eyes widen, and you notice that the figure is you! You are being held hostage in this tower. How did you come to be in this tower? Who built the tower? Can you get out? Do you want to get out? And why haven't you done so before now?

In The Battlefield of the Mind, Joyce Meyer's states, "Through careful strategy and cunning deceit, Satan attempts to set up "stongholds" in our mind. A stronghold is an area in which we are held in bondage (in prison) due to a certain way of thinking." She goes on to say, "Through carefully laid plans, and deliberate deception, he begins to set up strongholds in our minds. We have to be constantly on guard."

I had to pause a moment in my reading to ask myself a few questions.
1) Do I have strongholds?
2) What lies has Satan planted that keep repeating over and over in my head?
3) After discovering the lies, how do I get them out. How do you defend yourself againg this onslaught?

I will continue to ponder these questions and see if i come up with an answer beore I continue in my study.

Challenge for the day: Do you have strongholds? What lies do you believe about yourself?
