The Book

You know how when someone tries to get you to do something that you’re really not all that crazy about doing so you sort of drag your feet cause you really don’t wanna do it? Well, my parents were like that when my sister and I tried to get them to watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding. And Lord of the Rings. And a host of other movies. (wink) My daughter was like that when I tried to get her to read Voice in the Wind (I finally paid her $50 dollars to read it – and it was the best fifty I ever spent!). Well, it’s now my turn to drag my feet.

The foot-dragging began when my sister told me about this book called Twilight. She ruined it for me when she said “young adult” book. I thought…. “Naa….why waste my time.” Then she called me and told me AGAIN how great it was and she was almost through with book number two.

Unsinkable called me and told me about this fabulous book that I HAD to read. Yep. You guessed it. Twilight. I was beginning to think this was a conspiracy cooked up between my sister and my daughter.

Well, it took a hurricane and the threat of loss of power for over a week to get me to consider what my power-outage options were for entertainment. I decided to run to Barnes & Noble and get a book. And what do you think greeted me as I walked into the door of the store? A stack of books all by the author of that one book….yeah…..that ONE book called Twilight.

I grabbed. I took it home. I read it. I read it faster. I blew through that book in a day and I have to admit that I did enjoy it. I enjoyed it so much that I went out and bought the other two books and I am now on book 3 titled “Eclipse.”

I suppose I have to admit that they were……. (heavy sigh) …….. right. ugh.

I've been holding out on Twilight, too, despite almost everyone (including your daughter) saying I needed to read this series. It just doesn't seem to be my thing. I might, MIGHT, be beginning to cave, though...
