Monday - Gray or Great

Monday – why does that word conjure up gray skies, problems, and dread?
I’m not sure why it does, but for me, it does. I’m just not ready for the weekend to be over and my body rebels at the thought of dragging itself back to the office for another week of yet the same thing. I know that work is healthy and good for you but there are days when it seems otherwise. The day just seems ….gray.

While I might envision grayness, for others the day is an inspiration, a fresh start, newness. It has spawned some great songs: Monday, Monday (Mama’s and the Papa’s), Manic Monday (Bangles) and Rainy Days and Mondays (The Carpenter’s) So, I suppose artistically, the day has some redeeming qualities after all.

But back to my question - why does that word conjure up gray skies, problems, and dread? Even Hoops and Yoyo (Hallmark creatures) have an e-card for Spastic Colon Sunday. It laughs at how tangled up we get just thinking about going to work on Monday.

I don’t know about you, but I wish the weekend would last a bit longer. What about you? Are you a Gray Monday or Great Monday person?
